One-to-One Preschool Aide
Apple Playschools is a nonprofit organization based in Ann Arbor, MI embodying inclusion, innovation, and environmental stewardship in entrepreneurship and education in order to make a more equitable world. We currently operate three progressive early childhood (child care/preschool) programs that follow a child-led, play-based curriculum inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy.

The One-on-one Preschool Aide
The one-on-one preschool aide will work at Green Apple Upper School directly with a single student who receives special education services. The aide will work collaboratively with the classroom lead and assistant teachers and the entire teaching team. Responsibilities include:
Training and Support
The One-on-One Preschool Aide will receive training and support from teaching and leadership team members.This is a great hands-on learning opportunity for education students, social work students, or those in other child-related fields. The One-on-One Preschool Aide will also receive training from the Special Education Consultant assigned to the student, and the Good Start Social Worker from WISD.
The Recruitment and Orientation Process for the One-on-one Preschool Aide
The recruiting process will include a combination of phone screens, in-person interviews, fingerprinting and pre-employment background and reference checks.

The One-on-one Preschool Aide
The one-on-one preschool aide will work at Green Apple Upper School directly with a single student who receives special education services. The aide will work collaboratively with the classroom lead and assistant teachers and the entire teaching team. Responsibilities include:
- Actively supervise assigned student, including use of assistive technology and behavior supports
- Engage the student in numerous daily activities including lunch, rest time, active play indoors and outdoors, and small-group activities
- Be committed to effective conflict resolution and collaborative communication with staff, families, children, and community partners
- Has sound judgment and ability to assess risk appropriately, including the capacity to act quickly and appropriately in case of an emergency
- Be “on your feet” for most of the day, able to comfortably bend, move around with young children, ascend or descend a flight of stairs, walk on uneven terrain, work outside in all weather conditions, quickly respond and move from one point to another in the learning environment, be exposed to environmental allergens (dust, animals, etc), and hold, carry, or lift up to 25 pounds
