Board Member FAQ’s:
Feel free to email info@appleplayschools.org with any other specific questions.

What’s the monthly time commitment?
Approximately 10 hours per month, with one 2 hour board meeting, other 8 hours will likely be emails, phone calls, research, and committee work.  This work may vary due to time of year.  There is also an annual 8 hour board retreat during the summer months.

How long is a board term?
Board Term-2 years.

Are the Board of Directors paid or compensated for service?
No.  All board positions are 100% volunteer.

How many Board Members will the board have?
Our board has been about  members for the last year; we are looking to reach a size of 9-11 members.

What is your ruling year?
2015.

What if I can’t commit to two years, only one?
There is about a 6 month learning curve for new board members to become acquainted with the full functioning of operations.  It is crucial to the long term stability of the program for board members to make a full two year commitment.

Does Apple Playschools have a Strategic Plan?
We do.  We are happy to provide our strategic plan and financials during our board member interview process.

What does the board oversee?
Board will oversee three program locations, an executive director, and two program directors.  There are approximately 120 families enrolled in total, and approximately 30 employees employed by the organization.  There is currently no volunteer coordinator, no grant writer, and no volunteers; recruiting these non-profit contributors will be a major focus of the board.

What is the fundraising commitment for the Board Members?
We expect 100% give from our board members and for our board members to be ambassador for our organization and fundraising goals.  However, the specific dollar amount is whatever is a personally meaningful amount to you and your family.
